The Walt Disney Studios has announced that production on the sequel to Freaky Friday, the studio’s hit comedy starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, began today in Los Angeles. A sequel to the beloved 2003 film with a multigenerational twist, the film picks up years after Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) endured an identity…
Author’s note: This Haunted Mansion review was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors on strike, the film being covered here wouldn’t exist. If you are interested in helping those workers on strike, please consider giving to the Entertainment Community Fund. After a weekend of box…
Let’s be honest and lay the cards on the table – the Indiana Jones movies are a trilogy. Yes, there are five movies in this trilogy, so the math doesn’t quite check out, but Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny are more epilogues than…
In 1969, Henry Jones Jr. is at a low point in his life. Well past his glory days, he now is disrespected by his younger neighbors, slowed down by aches and pains, forced into retirement by his college, and ignored by his students. Indy is a man out of time and the world moves on…
I’ll be the first to admit that, when I initially looked at Elemental in my inbox, I was hesitant. Over the years, Pixar has struggled a bit with its films, some of which suffered from being shoved onto Disney+ during peak COVID but also due to execution of ideas. From the lackluster Lightyear to the…
The Little Mermaid is arguably one of my favorite Disney Princess animated films. Not only did it introduce a lifelong obsession with mermaids, but it was also the hook that pulled me into all things Disney. Going into the live action, there was some hesitance. Disney’s live-action attempts have not been the greatest. In multiple…

Why be one movie when you can be twelve? Who cares if it makes sense; just stuff them all in there. Stick Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Mummy, The African Queen, Pirates of the Caribbean, and a bunch of other movies in a blender, and there you have it. Therein lies the problem with…
Stylish, calculating, and beautiful with a pair of perfectly-pitched performances from its two leads, Cruella is an apt reflection of the life its heroine (Emma Stone) wants to lead, but maybe a decade too late in getting there. A prequel humanizing a villain from a 50-year-old film who literally has ‘devil’ as part of her…
With Cruella hitting theaters and Disney+ (with Premier Access) on Friday, May 28, Vital Thrills talked to stars Emma Stone and Emma Thompson about the highly-anticipated film. The press conference also included director Craig Gillespie, costume designer Jenny Beavan, hair and makeup head Nadia Stacey, and production designer Fiona Crombie. It’s unusual to have below-the-line…
With the movie launching on Disney+ on August 14, Vital Thrills got a chance to talk to The One and Only Ivan cast. The Walt Disney Studios film is based on the award-winning book by Katherine Applegate (buy at Amazon). The One and Only Ivan tells the story of Ivan, a silverback gorilla who learns that…
Serious fans of Jack London’s The Call of the Wild novel will likely be disappointed in the latest adaptation by 20th Century Studios (formerly 20th Century Fox, now owned by Disney, and one of Fox’s final productions). The novel is surely dated and somewhat problematic now, with its treatment of North American indigenous people and the…

As someone who was there at the beginning of that fateful summer of 1977, I’ve ridden the highs and the lows of the Star Wars saga over the years. During that time, there have been, shall we say, some truths I’ve clung to that depended greatly on my own point of view. I’ve reevaluated these films…
