Avengers: Doomsday Cast Announced as Production Begins
Marvel Studios has announced the Avengers: Doomsday cast and that the highly anticipated film has started production for a May 1, 2026, release. You can watch the almost five-and-a-half hour global live stream of the announcement or a much shorter version online.
Four-time Marvel Studios directors Anthony and Joe Russo return to direct Doomsday, as well as the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars, opening in theaters on May 7, 2027.

The Russos previously announced the film at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, where they revealed that Robert Downey Jr. – who starred in 10 films as Tony Stark – will return in a new role, this time playing the iconic villain Victor von Doom.
The Avengers: Doomsday cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, and Joseph Quinn.

Also on board are David Harbour, Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, and, of course, Robert Downey Jr.
We do not doubt that Marvel Studios is not announcing the full cast here, as we’re pretty sure there will be more announcements or surprises down the road. It will also be interesting to see how the cast members from the previous X-Men films will enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
