The New Trailer for The Odyssey Has Arrived
Christopher Nolan was a guest today on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and brought along a new trailer for The Odyssey, a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand-new IMAX film technology. You can now view the new trailer and poster, as well as an extended version of the Nolan interview, below.
The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026. The movie has not yet been rated by the Motion Picture Association (MPA).

The Odyssey stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, and Lupita Nyong’o, with Zendaya and Charlize Theron.
Emma Thomas and Christopher Nolan produce the movie for their company, Syncopy. The executive producer is Thomas Hayslip.

A 70-second teaser trailer for The Odyssey debuted exclusively in movie theaters ahead of screenings of Universal Pictures’ Jurassic World Rebirth, which released in July 2025.
The teaser was followed by a six-minute prologue, which debuted on December 12, 2025, before IMAX screenings of One Battle After Another and Sinners, followed by Avatar: Fire and Ash upon its release on December 19. The first trailer was then released on December 22.

Principal photography for The Odyssey took place from February 25 to August 8, 2025. Filming locations included Morocco, Greece, Italy, Iceland, and Scotland.
Tickets for select IMAX 70 mm screenings of The Odyssey were made available on July 17, 2025, one year before the film’s release.
