The Odyssey Trailer Reveals Christopher Nolan’s Next Film
Universal Pictures has released the official trailer for Christopher Nolan’s next film, The Odyssey, a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand-new IMAX film technology. The movie has not yet been rated by the Motion Picture Association (MPA).
The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026.

The Odyssey stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, and Lupita Nyong’o, with Zendaya and Charlize Theron.
Emma Thomas and Christopher Nolan produce the movie for their company, Syncopy. The executive producer is Thomas Hayslip.

A 70-second teaser trailer for The Odyssey debuted exclusively in movie theaters ahead of screenings of Universal Pictures’ Jurassic World Rebirth, which released in July 2025.
The teaser was followed by a six-minute prologue, which debuted on December 12, 2025, before IMAX screenings of re-releases for Warner Bros. Pictures films One Battle After Another and Sinners, followed by Disney’s Avatar: Fire and Ash upon its release on December 19.
Principal photography for The Odyssey took place from February 25 to August 8, 2025. Filming locations included Morocco, Greece, Italy, Iceland, and Scotland.
Tickets for select IMAX 70 mm screenings of The Odyssey were made available on July 17, 2025, one year before the film’s release.
