Amazon MGM Studios has revealed a first look at The Fire Inside, the inspirational true story of two-time boxing gold medalist Claressa Shields. The movie made its World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday, September 7.
The Fire Inside, opening in theaters on December 25, 2024, is rated PG-13 for some strong language, thematic elements, and brief suggestive material.
Claressa Shields is arguably the greatest female boxer of all time. Claressa, a high school Junior from Flint, Michigan, aided by her tough-love coach, Jason Crutchfield, pushes past all limitations to become the first American woman to win an Olympic gold medal in boxing.
But even at the pinnacle of success, Claressa has to reckon with the fact that not all dreams are created equal, and the real fight has only just begun.
The movie stars Ryan Destiny and Academy Award nominee Brian Tyree Henry. Academy Award nominee Rachel Morrison directed the film from a script by Academy Award winner Barry Jenkins.
Elishia Holmes and Barry Jenkins are the producers. The executive producers include Lyn Lucibello Brancatella, Rachel Morrison, Claressa Shields, Drea Cooper, Zackary Canepari, and Sue Jaye Johnson.
Rachel Morrison earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Cinematography for Mudbound. She has previously worked with Ryan Coogler on Fruitvale Station and Black Panther.
Barry Jenkins’ director credits include Moonlight, If Beale Street Could Talk, The Underground Railroad, and the upcoming Mufasa: The Lion King.
