Summer Sparks to Debut on Roku in July
This summer, Roku Originals is setting viewers up with their new favorite romance. On July 7, Summer Sparks, an original romantic comedy starring Jesse Metcalfe and Kathryn Davis, arrives on The Roku Channel.
Summer Sparks welcomes all to Camp Evergreen, where a summer cook-off means laughter, connection, and a little romance. Single father Adam (Jesse Metcalfe) arrives with his competitive son and finds himself swept up in challenges—and joys.

He meets Monica (Kathryn Davis), a single mom returning to the camp where she spent her childhood to share its magic with her own kids. As they navigate cooking mishaps and heartfelt moments, their growing connection adds an extra spark to an already unforgettable summer.
“Summer wouldn’t be complete without a little romance, and ‘Summer Sparks’ is a story that all viewers will fall in love with,” said Morgan Pichinson, Roku Originals.
“Led by the amazing Jesse Metcalfe and Kathryn Davis, ‘Summer Sparks’ and its unforgettable characters are part of our commitment to bringing viewers meaningful stories that resonate, in the moments that matter throughout the year.”
“I’m certainly no stranger to a rom-com, but ‘Summer Sparks’ is a rom-com that delivers on multiple levels and really hits you in the feels,” said Jesse Metcalfe.
“The opportunity to play a single father desperately trying to connect with his son is what drew me to the project. This was my first time working with Roku, and it was a great experience. They were collaborative, supportive, and wonderful partners throughout the process. I can’t wait for people to see this movie.”
“Working on this film has been an absolute joy from start to finish,” said Kathryn Davis. “The experience of bringing this beautiful story to life alongside such a talented cast and dedicated crew was truly unforgettable.
“At its heart, this is a story about family, connection, friendship, and finding love in unexpected places. I can’t wait for audiences to join us on this heartfelt journey and experience all the laughter, warmth, and magic that unfolds at cooking camp.”
“At Studio TF1 America, we love stories that bring people together, and ‘Summer Sparks’ is exactly that kind of film—heartfelt, romantic, and full of warmth. We couldn’t imagine a better first collaboration with Roku Originals and are excited for audiences to discover the magic of Camp Evergreen this summer,” said Maura Dunbar and Sebastian Battro, executive producers for Studio TF1 America.
Summer Sparks is produced by Champlain Media for Studio TF1 America. It is directed by Marni Banack and written by Ansley Gordon and Thomas Ambrosini.
The project is overseen by Morgan Pichinson and Sabrina Lyall on behalf of Roku Originals, and it builds on Roku Originals’ existing lineup of scripted original features, including Broad Trip, Chef’s Kiss, This Time Next Year, Merry Little Mystery, Jingle Bell Love, and Jingle Bell Wedding.
