Diarra From Detroit Season 2 Premiere Date and First Look

Everybody’s favorite chaotic detective is back on the case. Today, Paramount+ revealed the premiere date for and a first look at season two of the hilariously suspenseful series Diarra From Detroit, from creator, writer, executive producer, and award-winning actress Diarra Kilpatrick.

The eight-episode second season will make its global debut on Paramount+ with two episodes on Wednesday, July 29, followed by one new episode every Wednesday through September 9.

Created by and starring Kilpatrick, season two finds Diarra Brickland trying — unsuccessfully — to have a hot girl summer without getting wrapped up in yet another deeply unserious and extremely dangerous Detroit mystery. This time around, what starts as a seemingly harmless furniture recovery mission quickly spirals into a triple homicide investigation, a citywide treasure hunt, and another trip deep into Detroit’s criminal underbelly.

As Diarra attempts to sort out her messy relationship status, she instead finds herself going undercover with a secret society, starring in a Tubi movie, chasing urban legends, dodging gang warfare, and uncovering secrets buried beneath the city itself. Because of course she does.

The series stars Kilpatrick, DomiNque Perry, Bryan Terrell Clark, and Jon Chaffin with Shannon Wallace, Phylicia Rashad and Harry Lennix returning.

The new season also features an all-star lineup of guest stars, including Cliff “Method Man” Smith, Morris Chestnut, Glynn Turman, Bokeem Woodbine, Amber Riley, Lil Rel Howery, Lovie Simone, Shoniqua Shandai, Nicco Annan, Skilla Baby, Icewear Vezzo, Chris “CP” Powell, and Jude Demorest.

The series is executive produced by Kilpatrick, Kenya Barris, and Miles Orion Feldsott, who also serves as showrunner, and produced by BET Studios and Khalabo Ink Society.

Following its debut, Diarra From Detroit quickly emerged as one of the year’s breakout critical successes, earning praise for its wildly original blend of comedy, mystery, and unapologetically Detroit storytelling. The series earned multiple nominations from both the NAACP Image Awards and Independent Spirit Awards, and Kilpatrick won a Gracie Award for Actress in a Breakthrough Role (Drama) for her performance.
