Interviews with Radcliffe, Buscemi and the Cast of Miracle Workers: Oregon Trail

TBS will release Miracle Workers: Oregon Trail on July 13, and we got a chance to speak to cast members Daniel RadcliffeSteve BuscemiGeraldine Viswanathan, and Karan Soni about their new adventure in the American Old West. You can check out our video interviews by using the players below.

Set in the year 1844, the third season of Miracle Workers will follow an idealistic small-town preacher (Radcliffe) who teams up with a wanted outlaw (Buscemi) and a liberated prairie wife (Viswanathan) to lead a wagon train west on the Oregon Trail across an American landscape which, much like today, is fraught with both promise and peril.

Since the series is an anthology (the first season took place in Heaven, the second in the Dark Ages), it’s important to know who plays whom. Daniel Radcliffe told us about his role.

“I play Reverend Ezekiel Brown, who is an English man who has found his way to America and become a preacher in Missouri, which is where we join them at the beginning.

He added: “At the time of the start of the season, the town is really on the verge of sort of just devastation and crumbling to nothing. And so he sees their only option as to set out on the Oregon Trail bound for better pastures, and very quickly realizes he has no idea how to get them there.

“But then fortunately meets Steve’s character, who is the opposite of a priest, but is, but is the guy we need.”

Steve Buscemi explained, “I play an outlaw who is way past his prime but still clinging on to, like, that youth, that youthful glory. And when we meet him, he’s literally half dead.

“And he’s running away from the law, and he was betrayed by his own gang, you know, so he just kind of sees this opportunity with Ezekiel and is down to sort of find cover and evade the law.

“And if he can get them to Oregon, great, you know, I don’t think he’s overly concerned with that in the beginning, but then he does grow fond of the town’s people. a

“He likes to tell stories. He likes to have fun, but he and Ezekiel are really opposites. They clash a lot, but they somehow manage to stay together and make it to Oregon, against all odds.”

Geraldine Viswanathan said, “I play Prudence Aberdeen, who’s… the wife of the rich man in town. She hates him, and she’s just kind of like busting to get out and live for this adventure that is the Oregon Trail, and then Karan is…”

Karan Soni joined in, “…the gunslinger. I play the gunslinger who is chasing after Steve’s character. It’s his life’s goal to catch him and put him behind bars, and he’s failed for years and years and years, and we’ll find out if he succeeds, as he chases him down the Oregon Trail.”

We’ve seen the first episode here at Vital Thrills, and it’s absolutely hysterical! Make sure to check out what the cast has to say about the new season in the videos below.
