Netflix Shares Behind-the-Scenes Look at The Sticks

Netflix has announced that Scott Bakula, Logan Marshall-Green, Alex MacIsaac and more will round out the cast of The Sticks (formerly known as “Untitled Hockey Project”), the official title for the heartwarming and inspirational drama series created by Nick Naveda.

The Sticks, from Naveda, Bridget Bedard and 21 Laps, will premiere in 2027. The streaming service has provided us with three behind-the-scenes photos.

In the eight-episode series, after tragedy shatters a small Minnesota hockey town, a grieving wife steps behind the bench of the team her husband built, guiding a found family of wounded young athletes through a season of loss, love, and rivalry that will decide whether South Dorothy has anything left to believe in, and who will lead it into its next chapter

“The Sticks is about a lot of things. Hockey, family, love, loss, class, and coming of all ages. But above all, it’s a story about community and the importance of taking care of one another,” said creator and executive producer Nick Naveda.

Naveda added, “Seeing this terrific cast of actors bring their characters to life with such curiosity, empathy and tenderness has been incredibly moving to watch, and I can’t wait for the world to meet the people of South Dorothy.”

Scott Bakula (Quantum Leap, American Beauty, The Baker’s Wife) plays Coach Brody Hansen, Logan Marshall-Green (Marshals, The Odyssey) plays Coach Sully, and Alex MacIsaac (The Social Reckoning, When Calls the Heart, Hollywood Arts) plays Emma Boone.

The recurring cast includes Bryan Greenberg (Suits LA, Emily in Paris, How to Make It in America) as Cliff Barnes, Chelsea Field (NCIS: New Orleans, The Last Boy Scout) as Alice Hansen, and Patrick Gallagher (Big Sky, Night at the Museum) as Principal Montgomery.

The recurring cast also includes Alison Araya (Peacemaker, Riverdale, Family Law) as Joan Garcia, Aman Smardon (Allegiance) as Kai Becker, Krista Bridges (Narc, Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy) as Frankie Ryder, and Ben Cotton (Trinity, The Night Agent, Resident Alien) plays Mr. Marchbanks.

The newly announced cast members join Michelle Monaghan (as Harper Sullivan), Emilie Bierre (as Riley Sullivan), Shai Chase (as Henry Sullivan), Josh MacQueen (as Rhett Nelson), Costa D’Angelo (as Owen Boone), and Carter Shimp (as Austin Ryder).

There’s also Ethan Holder (as Cooper Cunningham), Isaac Arellanes (as Manny Rodriguez), Chloe Avakian (as Izzy Miller), Caleb Baumann (as Elu), River Codack (as Tyler Walker), Angus Albinati (as Jack McGrath), and Callum Orchison (as Derek Marchbanks).

Nick Naveda is the creator and executive producer, and Bridget Bedard is the showrunner and executive producer. The executive producers also include Shawn Levy, Dan Levine and Robert Atwood for 21 Laps, as well as director Trey Edward Shults.
