SpongeBob SquarePants Holiday Special Launching Nov. 27

Paramount has announced that the holiday season is coming to Bikini Bottom in the all-new hour-long SpongeBob SquarePants special, “Merry Christmas, Mr. Plankton.” The episode airs Friday, Nov. 27 (5:00-6:00 pm ET/PT) on Nickelodeon and streams the same day on Paramount+.

In this festive episode, SpongeBob, Mr. Krabs and an unlikely group of friends must team up to save Christmas after Plankton takes over the North Pole. Lewis Black guest stars as Santa.

A new episode of The Patrick Star Show, titled “Snowbound! A Star Family Christmas,” will premiere immediately following the special on Friday, Nov. 27 (6:00-6:30 pm ET/PT) on Nickelodeon. While snowbound at home, the Stars share Christmas stories.

This latest addition to the SpongeBob SquarePants universe joins the ocean of SpongeBob content available on the service, including theatrical releases like The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, The Patrick Star Show, Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years, and a 15-season catalog of the original SpongeBob SquarePants series.

Since its launch on July 17, 1999, SpongeBob SquarePants has generated a universe of beloved characters, pop culture catchphrases and memes, theatrical releases, consumer products, a Tony Award-winning Broadway musical and a global fan base.

SpongeBob SquarePants was created by Stephen Hillenburg and produced by Nickelodeon in Burbank, Calif. The character-driven cartoon chronicles the nautical and sometimes nonsensical adventures of SpongeBob, an incurable optimist and earnest sea sponge, and his undersea friends.
