Christie’s return was initially revealed during a surprise appearance at the Doom Tour press conference in Sydney, Australia, alongside stars Jenna Ortega, Emma Myers, director and executive producer Tim Burton, and creators and showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar.

Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) returns to prowl the Gothic halls of Nevermore Academy, where fresh foes and woes await. This season, Wednesday must navigate family, friends, and old adversaries, propelling her into another year of delightfully dark and kooky mayhem. Armed with her signature razor-sharp wit and deadpan charm, Wednesday is also plunged into a new bone-chilling supernatural mystery.

“I was so thrilled to come back and work again with this wonderful cast and the magnificent Jenna Ortega and the rest of our brilliant cast,” Christie tells the Netflix blog Tudum. “I felt like I was returning to a group of friends who are all at the top of their game.

“It is such a pleasure for me to be a part of this emotional world, this imaginative world, and play the character of Larissa Weems, whom I truly adore and really thought a lot about bringing into being.”

“When we got into the writers’ room, we were determined to bring Gwen back,” says co-creator and showrunner Miles Millar. “The audience has fallen in love with the Wednesday–Weems relationship… so we’re bringing her back in the second half of the season in a very special way that is as confrontational as it is delicious.” Co-creator and showrunner Alfred Gough adds, “Nobody in our world is truly dead dead.”

How will the character come back? Christie explains, “A spirit guide is someone who provides spiritual guidance, and Weems has been pulled — from whatever dimension her soul has been floating in — back into being as Wednesday’s spirit guide.” In the trailer, Enid (Emma Myers) can’t see Weems, who reveals herself only to Wednesday.

Joanna Lumley as Grandmama, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams

Wednesday premiered in 2022 and quickly became a record-breaking global phenomenon, claiming the #1 spot on Netflix’s list of most popular English shows of all time and spending 20 weeks on the Global Top 10.

The series is based on characters created by Charles Addams and reimagined for a new generation with creative visionary Tim Burton. The series has already been renewed for a third season.
