The Watchers First Look Revealed

Warner Bros. Pictures has revealed a first look at The Watchers, the upcoming supernatural horror film written and directed by Ishana Night Shyamalan.

Based on A.M. Shine’s novel of the same name and produced by M. Night Shyamalan, the movie is scheduled to open in North American theaters on June 7, 2024.

The Watchers First Look Revealed

The Watchers follows Mina, a 28-year-old artist who gets stranded in an expansive, untouched forest in western Ireland. When Mina finds shelter, she unknowingly becomes trapped alongside three strangers who are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures each night.

The film stars Dakota Fanning (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Ocean’s Eight), Georgina Campbell (Barbarian, Suspicion), Oliver Finnegan (Creeped Out, Outlander), and Olwen Fouere (The Northman, The Tourist).

In addition to M. Night Shyamalan, the Warner Bros. Pictures release was produced by Ashwin Rajan and Nimitt Mankad. The executive producers are Jo Homewood and Stephen Dembitzer.

Writer/director Shyamalan is joined behind the camera by the director of photography Eli Arenson (Lamb, Hospitality), production designer Ferdia Murphy (Lola, Finding You), editor Job ter Burg (Benedetta, Elle), and costume designer Frank Gallacher (Sebastian, Aftersun). The music is by Abel Korzeniowski (Till, The Nun).

The novel, which can be bought at Amazon (#ad), is officially described as follows: “This forest isn’t charted on any map. Every car breaks down at its treeline. Mina’s is no different.

“Left stranded, she is forced into the dark woodland only to find a woman shouting, urging Mina to run to a concrete bunker. As the door slams behind her, the building is besieged by screams.

“Mina finds herself in a room with a wall of glass and an electric light that activates at nightfall when the Watchers come above ground. These creatures emerge to observe their captive humans, and terrible things happen to anyone who doesn’t reach the bunker in time.

“Afraid and trapped among strangers, Mina is desperate for answers. Who are the Watchers, and why are they keeping the humans imprisoned, keen to watch their every move? A spine-chilling debut horror adventure set in the remote and sinister forests of Ireland from critically acclaimed Irish writer A.M. Shine.”
