The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping Heads for NYCC

As anticipation builds for the November 20, 2026 release of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, attendees at New York Comic Con will be transported to Panem this weekend as Lionsgate brings The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping Experience to a free-of-charge pop-up location across from the Javits Center.

The sensory, immersive experience, built in cooperation with Experiential Supply Co., brings to life distinctive elements of the film and invites guests on a journey through the world of the 50th Hunger Games—from District 12 to the striking floral motifs of the Games, the spectacle of the Flickerman stage, and fan-forward experiences celebrating the world of The Hunger Games.

The journey begins in District 12, where guests will have the opportunity to step into a District 12-inspired environment featuring campaign-style propaganda artwork—some disrupted by spray-painted rebellion markings.

From there, guests move into an immersive environment inspired by the floral motifs of the 50th Hunger Games, where florals, greenery, butterflies, and other sensory elements evoke the beauty—and underlying danger—of the Games.

The experience then draws guests deeper into the spectacle surrounding the Games, including oversized digital Sunrise on the Reaping key art and a Caesar Flickerman stage experience inspired by the broadcasts seen throughout Panem.

Guests will also become part of the experience themselves: photos captured during their journey will be incorporated into Sunrise on the Reaping-inspired artwork and delivered as a personalized digital photo takeaway. The first 100 guests who line up each day will also receive a commemorative NYCC 2026 The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping poster, which you can view below.

At the Scent Station, guests can discover and experience the new “The World of The Hunger Games x Scentbird” and “The World of The Hunger Games x Drift” products firsthand in an exclusive preview ahead of the new movie release.

“For New York Comic-Con fans, we wanted to create a Panem experience to remember and share,” said Dani Otero, EVP, Global Paid Media & Analytics. “This immersive pop-up puts you right in the world of Panem, the extraordinary world Suzanne Collins created, brought to life by our incredible filmmakers.”

Ralph Fiennes as President Snow

From acclaimed director Francis Lawrence, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping follows sixteen-year-old Haymitch Abernathy (Joseph Zada) from District 12, beginning on the morning of the reaping for the 50th Annual Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell, the biggest Games yet with twice as many tributes.

Set in the world of Panem 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games, the story follows Haymitch into the arena, where he forms an unlikely alliance with fellow tribute Maysilee Donner (Mckenna Grace) and joins a coalition determined to challenge the Capitol’s control under President Snow (Ralph Fiennes).

Iona Bell as Lou Lou, Ben Wang as Wyatt Callow, Joseph Zada as Haymitch Abernathy, and Mckenna Grace as Maysilee Donner.

As the competition unfolds, Haymitch risks everything to take down the Games from within the arena — setting in motion the rebellion that will change Panem forever.

Based on Suzanne Collins’ best-selling novel, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping also stars Jesse Plemons, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning, Maya Hawke, Whitney Peak, and Kelvin Harrison Jr. Produced by Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, and Francis Lawrence. Screenplay by Billy Ray and Michael Lesslie. Based on the novel by Suzanne Collins.
