The Diplomat Season Five Given the Green Light by Netflix
Netflix has given the green light to The Diplomat Season Five, continuing the critically acclaimed political drama series following the success of the fourth season’s October 15 launch.
The series is created by Debora Cahn, who served as executive producer for Season 4 alongside Janice Williams, Keri Russell, Alex Graves, Peter Noah, and Eli Attie.

The Diplomat is a Golden Globe, Emmy, SAG, PGA, WGA, and Critics Choice-nominated series and has received numerous additional accolades since it premiered in 2023, including an AFI Honor.
For Season 3, Keri Russell won the SAG Actor’s Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series, Allison Janney won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, and the series received seven Emmy nominations total.

Across all four seasons, The Diplomat has been in the Top 10 for 13 weeks, reaching the top 10 in 87 countries and earning over 130M views since its debut in 2023. Season 4 premiered on October 15, 2026, and opened to strong viewership, reaching #3 on the Global Top 10 in its second week and entering the Top 10 in 63 countries.
Season 4 set a new record for owned social impressions within 13 days of launch. It remains the series’ strongest owned social performance to date. Additional details about The Diplomat Season Five will be shared at a later time.

In Season Four of The Diplomat, two marriages threaten to eat each other alive. One catastrophic moment shatters the fragile peace Kate Wyler brokered between the US and UK, as well as the crumbling marriage she’s trying to save.
While she fights to stem the bleeding, President Grace Penn and VP Hal Wyler’s conspiracy to steal Russia’s most powerful weapon hurtles the United States toward war. Kate and Todd, at best an uneasy pair, unite to stop the Grace-Hal alliance from upending the balance of power abroad and at home.

Four Emmy nominees paint an unmissable portrait of two marriages: Keri Russell as Ambassador Kate Wyler, Rufus Sewell as Vice President Hal Wyler, Allison Janney as President Grace Penn, and Bradley Whitford as Todd Penn.
