SCP Foundation Feature to Be Produced by NEON
NEON will develop and produce an anthology feature based on the beloved community fiction project The SCP Foundation. With a focus on emerging filmmakers, NEON will contribute to the long-running open-source horror project and release the film theatrically in 2027.
NEON says it is committed to releasing the film and related materials under the Creative Commons license CC BY-SA, and has been in communication with the SCP Wiki team to ensure the film’s distribution does not deviate from their mission and licensing guidelines.
Created in 2008, the SCP Wiki is a collaborative speculative fiction website about the SCP Foundation, a secretive organization that secures and contains anomalous or supernatural items and entities to protect humanity as well as the anomalies themselves.
Over its nearly two decades of existence and with thousands of contributors, the site has built an engaged, global fanbase and has inspired short films, web series, and games.
NEON has a good track record of producing and acquiring some of the most successful genre films of the past few years. Osgood Perkins’ Longlegs, starring Maika Monroe and Nicolas Cage, was the highest-grossing independent film of 2024 at $75 million domestically, and The Monkey was the second-highest-grossing independent film of 2025.
Most recently, the company released Alex Ullom’s SXSW breakout, It Ends, and will be producing his next film, 4 x 4: The Event. Other recent and upcoming in-house productions include Osgood Perkins’ The Young People; David Robert Mitchell’s They Follow; Matt Johnson’s The Vice Guide; and Arie and Chuko Esiri’s Clarissa.
In only nine years, NEON has garnered 57 Academy Award nominations, winning Best Picture for Sean Baker’s Anora and Bong Joon Ho’s Parasite. This year, NEON received 18 Oscar nominations, the second most for any motion picture studio. Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value and Kleber Mendonca Filho’s The Secret Agent were both nominated for Best Picture, with Sentimental Value ultimately winning Best International Film – bringing the studio’s total to 11 wins.
