The Monkey Movie Adapts Stephen King’s Short Story
NEON has released the official Red Band trailer for The Monkey, which is an upcoming comedy horror film based on the 1980 short story of the same name by Stephen King.
The Monkey is a new trip from Longlegs writer and director Osgood Perkins (upcoming Keeper, Longlegs). It was produced by James Wan (The Conjuring, Saw).

After stumbling upon their father’s vintage toy monkey in the attic, twin brothers Hal and Bill witness a string of horrifying deaths unfolding around them. In an attempt to leave the haunting behind, the brothers opt to discard the monkey and pursue separate paths over time.
However, when the inexplicable deaths resurface, the brothers are compelled to reconcile and embark on a mission to permanently eliminate the cursed toy.

The Monkey has been rated R by the Motion Picture Association (MPA) for strong bloody violent content, gore, language throughout and some sexual references.
Based on the 1980 short story from Skeleton Crew, the movie stars Theo James, Tatiana Maslany, Elijah Wood, Christian Convery, Colin O’Brien, Rohan Campbell and Sarah Levy.

Principal photography for the movie began in Vancouver on February 5, 2024, and wrapped on March 22, 2024. James Wan and Michael Clear produced for Atomic Monster; Dave Caplan for C2 Motion Picture Group; Brian Kavanaugh-Jones for Range Select; and Chris Ferguson for Odd Fellows.
The executive producers are Range’s Fred Berger, Stars Collective’s Peter Luo and Nancy Xu, and John Friedberg for Black Bear. C2 financed the film.
