Predator: Badlands is helmed by returning director Dan Trachtenberg (Prey, 10 Cloverfield Lane) and marks the franchise’s highly anticipated return to the big screen with a story that expands and redefines the Predator Universe.
Set in the future on a deadly remote planet, Badlands follows a young Predator outcast (played by newcomer Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi) who finds an unlikely ally in Thia (Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Elle Fanning) as he embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary.
The movie is produced by John Davis, Dan Trachtenberg, Marc Toberoff, Ben Rosenblatt, and Brent O’Connor.
Dan Trachtenberg’s previous Predator film, Prey, debuted as a Hulu Original on August 5, 2022. The action thriller is set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago. It is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains.

So when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks and ultimately confronts turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.
For Prey, the filmmakers were committed to creating a film that accurately portrays the Comanche and brings a level of authenticity that resonates with its Indigenous peoples.
The movie features a cast comprised almost entirely of Native and First Nations talent, including Amber Midthunder, Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp, Michelle Thrush, and Julian Black Antelope. The movie also stars Dane DiLiegro as the Predator.
Trachtenberg also directed the Hulu Original animated action-adventure film Predator: Killer of Killers, which was released on June 6, 2025.

The anthology story follows three of the fiercest warriors in human history: a Viking raider guiding her young son on a bloody quest for revenge, a ninja in feudal Japan who turns against his Samurai brother in a brutal battle for succession, and a WWII pilot who takes to the sky to investigate an otherworldly threat to the Allied cause.
But while all these warriors are killers in their own right, they are merely prey for their new opponent – the ultimate killer of killers. Predator: Killer of Killers is directed by Trachtenberg, with Josh Wassung from animation company The Third Floor serving as co-director.
