DOCUMENTARIES
Bring Me the Beauties: A Model Cult (HBO Original Documentary Series)
The three-episode season premieres on June 1, with new episodes debuting weekly.
“Bring Me the Beauties: A Model Cult” chronicles Hoyt Richards, who, at 16 years old, meets an enigmatic Manhattan socialite on a Nantucket beach and is pulled into his spiritual group, Eternal Values. Soon after, Richards ascends to fame as one of the first male supermodels of the 1980s.
Eternal Values, the cult-like group, and its larger-than-life leader, Frederick von Mierers, leveraged the glamorous world of 1980s New York to prey upon a community of young models and professionals, seducing them with his New Age cocktail of metaphysical and spiritual teachings and entangling them in a web of fabrication and exploitation.
Credits: HBO Documentary Films presents “Bring Me the Beauties,” a Library Films Production. Directed and executive produced by Chris Smith; executive producer, Ryann Fraser.

Earth, Wind & Fire (To Be Celestial Vs. That’s the Weight of the World) (HBO Original Documentary)
Debuts June 7
Acclaimed producer, director, and musician Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson tells the story of the legendary nine-time GRAMMY Award-winning band Earth, Wind & Fire, tracing their genesis through late founding member Maurice White, chronicling their evolution, highs and lows, and relevance from the 1970s into the present day while exploring the deep philosophical and spiritual meaning behind their message and music.
Credits: HBO Documentary Films presents “Earth, Wind & Fire (To Be Celestial Vs. That’s the Weight of the World),” a Questlove Jawn. The film from Fifth Season is produced by RadicalMedia, Two One Five Entertainment, Broken Halo Entertainment, and Word Is Bond in association with Sony Music Vision.

The Welcome Table (HBO Original Documentary)
Debuts June 23
“The Welcome Table,” directed by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Josh Fox (“Gasland”), tells the story of climate refugees across six continents, celebrating the voices and experiences of people living at the forefront of the climate crisis, displaced from their homes by climate disasters.
Featuring John Boutté, John Cameron Mitchell, and celebrated New Orleans musicians, the film weaves together stories of migration and resilience through music, performance, and the installation of a 1,000-foot table along the New Orleans levee, where communities gather in conversation, solidarity, and celebration.

Bang My Box: The Robin Byrn (HBO Original Documentary)
Debuts June 30
Before the internet and the ubiquity of social media influencers, there was Robin Byrd – the spirited, anything-goes New York City public access host, clad only in her signature black crochet bikini. From 1977 to 1998, Robin created, produced, and hosted the late-night call-in show that incorporated performances and interviews with adult entertainers and experimental artists.
Each show ended with a bawdy song and dance, turning her unapologetic, eponymous show into a national platform for sex-positivity and free speech. “Bang My Box: The Robin Byrn” celebrates a woman who defied expectations and remains a pioneer in content creation and a cult icon.
Credits: HBO Documentary Films presents “Bang My Box: The Robin Byrn,” a Pretty Matches Production in association with Laylow Pictures. Directed and produced by Jyllian Gunther and Stephanie Schwam; executive producers, Greg Scarnici and Claire Demere; edited by Jeremy Stulberg, ACE; produced by Sarah Jessica Parker, Alison Benson, and Caroline Waterlow.
