Ghost in the Shell Trailer Released by Prime Video
Prime Video has released the trailer for their new anime adaptation of Ghost in the Shell, the iconic franchise that has inspired audiences around the world since 1989.
Featuring an innovative, one-of-a-kind science fiction world brought to life with spectacular imagery, the franchise has had an immeasurable cultural impact and influenced countless creators globally.

Beginning with Shirow Masamune’s legendary manga released in 1989, Ghost in the Shell has expanded into anime, starting with director Mamoru Oshii’s landmark 1995 film, as well as a live-action Hollywood film and more.
Ghost in the Shell is a landmark work of cyberpunk science fiction set in a near-future where information networks envelop the world and advanced cyborg technology has enabled the creation of a cyberbrain. It follows the story of the full-body cyborg Motoko Kusanagi and the combat unit she leads in the fight against cybercrime.
While commanding her team, Kusanagi envisions creating a specialized task force to preemptively strike emerging threats. Meanwhile, Daisuke Aramaki from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who had been planning to establish a similar unit, recruits Kusanagi and her team.
Together, they begin operations as Public Security Section 9—an offensive tactical unit known as Shell Squad. As they confront complex cybercrimes and international conspiracies, a mysterious, unidentified hacker known as The Puppet Master emerges on the horizon of their investigation. What fate awaits Kusanagi? And what is the Puppet Master’s true objective? A new era of cyberpunk action begins.
This new anime adaptation is produced by the award-winning animation studio Science SARU, who are best known for the Golden Globe-nominated film Inu-oh, the TV anime series Dandadan, and the critically acclaimed movie The Colors Within. It is directed by Mokochan (Dandadan) with a script from EnJoe Toh (Godzilla Singular Point).
Ghost in the Shell will debut on July 7, 2026, on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide (excluding Japan and Vietnam). In Japan, starting from July 7, new episodes will be available for SVOD every Tuesday at 23:30 JST.
