Brand New Day Passes The Force Awakens in North America

Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: Brand New Day has become the highest-grossing domestic release of all time with $936.773 million at the North American box office. The film reached the all-time domestic box office record in just 47 days, outpacing the previous record holder, Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Since opening in theaters on July 31, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has continued to set new domestic box office records. The film launched with the biggest domestic opening weekend in history and became the fastest film ever to surpass every major domestic milestone, from $400 million to $900 million, before becoming the highest-grossing domestic release of all time.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film was written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Based on the Marvel comic book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, the film stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo.
