Spider-Man: Brand New Day Webs Passed $2 Billion Worldwide

Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: Brand New Day crossed the $2 billion mark at the worldwide box office this weekend, achieving the milestone as the second-fastest film ever and only the 8th movie to do so overall.

The film held great globally in its third weekend, down 51% for a $2.022 billion global total to date ($785.8 million domestic, $1.236 billion international), making it Sony’s highest-grossing release ever, ahead of Spider-Man: No Way Home ($1.921 billion).

Domestically, the film grossed $19.025 million on Friday, $29.265 million on Saturday, and an estimated $21.710 million on Sunday from 4,539 locations, once again securing the #1 spot at the weekend box office with $70 million. With an extraordinary $785.832 million in domestic total, the film has now become the fourth-highest-grossing release in domestic box-office history.

Overseas territories posted resilient holds in the wallcrawler’s third frame, easing 51% overall to deliver $118.7 million from 67 markets on 53,700+ screens. China led the weekend with $10 million, lifting its cume to $210 million, followed by France at $9.1 million (-39%), for a total of $63.7 million.

Other top markets this weekend: the United Kingdom ($8.2M weekend, -49%, $106.0M cume), Brazil ($7.5M, -47%, $59.5M), Mexico ($7.3M, $78.0M), Australia ($6.6M, -45%, $48.8M), South Korea ($6.4M, -41%, $53.2M), Germany ($6.4M, -42%, $48.8M), Japan ($3.4M, -15%, $27.0M), India ($3.2M, $59.6M), Spain ($2.8M, -44%, $35.2M), and Italy ($2.2M, $36.4M).

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now Sony Pictures’ highest-grossing release ever in 36 international markets, including Argentina, Colombia, Egypt, Hungary, India, Italy, Malaysia, Peru, the Philippines, Poland, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film was written by Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers and is based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. The film stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo.
