Based on All3Media International’s successful format Doc Martin, originally produced in the U.K. by Buffalo Pictures in association with Homerun Film Productions, and brought to American audiences by Propagate Content. Best Medicine is distributed worldwide by FOX Entertainment Global.

The series centers on Dr. Martin Best (Josh Charles), a brilliant surgeon who abruptly leaves his illustrious career in Boston to become the general practitioner in a quaint East Coast fishing village where he spent summers as a child with his Aunt Sarah (Annie Potts).

There, he encounters an eclectic group of townspeople, including schoolteacher Louisa Gavin (Abigail Spencer), Sheriff Mark Mylow (Josh Segarra), and his assistant Elaine Denton (Cree).

Martin’s blunt, no-nonsense bedside manner quickly alienates the quirky locals, even though he is the only doctor they have. While he can expertly diagnose any medical mystery, he struggles with a debilitating new phobia and childhood trauma that make intimacy difficult.

In a town defined by tenacity and heart, the very people Martin pushes away may ultimately be exactly what he needs. Best Medicine airs Tuesdays (8:00-9:00 pm ET/PT) on FOX, and is available the next day on Hulu.

An all-new episode airs Tuesday, March 3 (8:00-9:00 pm ET/PT), in which BAFTA Award-winning actor Martin Clunes, the original star of the UK’s Doc Martin, guest stars as Martin’s father, Robert Best, joined by Judith Ivey as his wife, Vanessa. When Martin’s parents make a surprise visit, he suspects his father may be hiding a serious health condition, forcing the two doctors to operate together while navigating long-simmering family tensions.
