AMC Networks August 2023 Schedules Announced

The AMC Networks August 2023 schedule has been announced and includes the season finale of AMC’s Dark Winds, the return of Acorn TV hit The Chelsea Detective, and a double dose of Sundance Now mysteries, including the return of anthology thriller The Pact and new Israeli series Broken Ties.

The AMC Networks August 2023 lineup also features fan-favorite series coming to AMC+, such as Killing Eve, The Son, and critical darling Lodge 49, which celebrates five years since its launch with the full series binge available beginning August 6.

AMC+ continues film premieres every week with movies such as IFC Films’ Paint, starring Owen Wilson, and Monica, starring Patricia Clarkson, as well as Shudder Originals The Communion Girl and Bad Things.

The Chelsea Detective Season 2 (Acorn TV Original) – New Season Premieres Monday, August 28
Season Two brings new cases for Detective Inspector Max Arnold (Adrian Scarborough, Killing Eve) and the team to investigate. Max is joined by sharp and quick-witted Detective Sergeant Layla Walsh (Vanessa Emme, Dublin Murders) from Exeter police. Layla quickly gets used to Max’s unique style and will occasionally roll her eyes at the worst excesses of Chelsea.

The Hustle of @617MikeBiv (ALLBLK Feature Film) – New Film Premiere Thursday, August 24
The Hustle of @617MikeBiv details the life of Michael L. Bivins. A kid from the Roxbury’s Orchard Park Projects who dreamed of playing in the NBA, but due his popularity as a baller was asked to join the legendary group New Edition.

The film details how his destiny to win was driven by his desire to never fail. Though his creativity and determination his ideas have been transformative with New Edition and Bell, Biv, DeVoe, when it comes to music and fashion.

Toya & Reginae (WE tv on ALLBLK) – New Series Premiere Monday, August 28
In six, one-hour episodes, this series follows the ups and downs of Atlanta’s most dynamic mother daughter duo, Toya Johnson-Rushing and Reginae Carter. The powerful pair are no strangers to the spotlight… every tweet, comment or post they make is dissected on all the hottest blogs, but what their fans see on social media is just scratching the surface.

Audiences will get to peek behind the curtain and see who they truly are – what’s happening in their love lives, how they balance those relationships along with their exciting and demanding careers, and of course their relationship with each other. Dark Winds Season 2 – New Episodes Premiere Sundays on AMC; Stream Early Every Thursday on AMC+ Through August 31
Lt. Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon) reunites with Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon), his former deputy turned private eye when their separate cases bring them together in pursuit of the same suspect. They find themselves in the high desert of Navajo Country chasing a killer who’s turned his sights on them to protect a secret that rips open old wounds and challenges Leaphorn’s moral and professional code.

With the help of Sgt. Manuelito (Jessica Matten) and Valencia County Sheriff Gordo Sena (A Martinez), Leaphorn and Chee must thwart their would-be assassin and restore balance not only to their own lives but to the reservation that depends on them.

Guest stars include Jeri Ryan (Star Trek: Picard) as Rosemary Vines, a femme fatale whose physical frailties hide her naked ambition as she plays Jim Chee, leaving a trail of bodies in her wake, as well as Nicholas Logan (Dopesick) as Colton Wolf, a twisted assassin with a secret that puts him on a collision course with Lt. Bad Things – Premieres Friday, August 18 (Shudder Original)
On the heels of its world premiere at Tribeca Film Festival, the film follows a weekend getaway for a few girlfriends at a snowy resort becomes a psychological tailspin and bloody nightmare. Long-deceased guests and the space itself come to life in this haunting thriller.

Monica – Premieres Friday, August 25 (AMC+ Exclusive)
Making history as the first trans actress to lead a film in competition at the Venice Film Festival last year, Trace Lysette (Transparent) stars in this intimate portrait of a woman who returns home to care for her dying mother (Patricia Clarkson, State of the Union).

In celebration of the series’ 5-year anniversary, the critically acclaimed modern fable set in Long Beach, California follows a disarmingly optimistic local ex-surfer, Dud (Wyatt Russell), who’s drifting after the death of his father and collapse of the family business.

The Son – Seasons 1 and 2 Debut Thursday, August 17
Based on Philipp Meyer’s New York Times best-selling and Pulitzer Prize finalist novel, the series is a sweeping family saga spanning 150 years and three generations of the McCullough family. The series traces the transformation of Eli McCullough (Pierce Brosnan), the charismatic family patriarch, from good-natured innocent to calculating killer.

Killing Eve – Seasons 1-4 Debut Thursday, August 24
Starring Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer, Killing Eve is an epic game of cat and mouse centering on two women; Eve (Oh) is a bored, whip-smart, pay-grade MI5 security officer whose desk-bound job doesn’t fulfill her fantasies of being a spy. Villanelle (Comer) is a mercurial, talented killer who clings to the luxuries her violent job affords her.

The Wild Sides – New Nature Series Premieres Saturday, August 5 as a Binge on AMC+; New Episodes Every Saturday on BBC America
The Wild Sides showcases that in an extreme landscape all animal families’ path cross; each one’s plot is affected by the next and everyone has their side of the story. Mashatu in Botswana is their home through drought, flood and abundance.

Wrongly Accused Season 1 (Sundance Now Original Series) – New True Crime Series Premieres with Two-Part Episodes Every Thursday Starting August 3 Until Season Finale on August 31
Investigative reporter Louise Shorter re-visits some of the greatest miscarriages of justice in British criminal history. Cases where lives were destroyed when individuals were wrongly accused of murders they did not commit. During the series, Shorter meets the wrongly accused, family members and those close to the case.

Each case is covered in two episodes as she examines the original investigation which led to the innocent being accused in the first episode and investigates the evidence that eventually caught the real murderer in the second – looking at the mistakes made and the consequences of a killer walking free. Written and created by Pete McTighe (A Discovery of Witches), the second season of the hit thriller tells a brand new, suspenseful and emotional story.
