Now that the first episode of HBO’s House of the Dragon has aired and is available to stream on HBO Max, the network has brought online a look at the weeks ahead on the series. HBO is also taking you behind the scenes of the premiere episode in a second video.
In “Inside the Episode,” Ryan Condal, Miguel Sapochnik, and more discuss why they opened the episode with the Great Council, the juxtaposition between the tournament and Queen Aemma’s birthing sequence, and the motivation behind Viserys choosing Rhaenyra as heir.
And that’s not all! The first episode of the The Official Game of Thrones Podcast: House of the Dragon is now online. In the podcast, hosts Greta Johnsen and Jason Concepcion discuss the first episode of the series with co-creator Ryan Condal. You can watch all the videos below.
Based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, House of the Dragon is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and tells the story of House Targaryen. George R.R. Martin and Ryan Condal serve as co-creators of the series.
House of the Dragon stars Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans.
The show’s additional cast members include Milly Alcock, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Emily Carey, Harry Collett, Ryan Corr, Tom Glynn-Carney, Jefferson Hall, and David Horovitch.
The cast is rounded out by Wil Johnson, John Macmillan, Graham McTavish, Ewan Mitchell, Theo Nate, Matthew Needham, Bill Paterson, Phia Saban, Gavin Spokes, and Savannah Steyn.
Sapochnik and Condal are showrunners, and the pair also serve as executive producers along with Martin, Vince Gerardis, Sara Lee Hess, and Ron Schmidt.
Clare Kilner (The Alienist: Angel of Darkness, The Wedding Date) and Geeta V. Patel (Meet the Patels, The Witcher) direct the series. Greg Yaitanes (Banshee, House) is the director and co-executive producer.
