The Woman in Cabin 10 First Look and Date Announcement
Netflix today shared a first look at the psychological thriller film The Woman in Cabin 10, which is set to release globally on the streaming service on Friday, October 10, 2025. The film is based on the 2016 best-selling novel by Ruth Ware.
While on board a luxury yacht for a travel assignment, a journalist witnesses a passenger thrown overboard late at night, only to be told that it didn’t happen, as all passengers and crew are accounted for. Despite no one believing her, she continues to look for answers, putting her own life in danger.

“I’ve said in acknowledgements before that it takes a village to make a book, but what I learned going on set for Cabin 10 is that it takes a whole town to make a film – it’s truly amazing seeing so many people working so hard on something you created,” said Ruth Ware.
“It’s also a big leap of faith, of course – like handing your baby over to strangers. But I feel Lo [played by Keira Knightley] and company are in good hands.”

Ware had a hard time choosing the most exciting part of seeing the filming. “I think it would have to be either the cast, which is truly amazing, or just the experience of seeing scenes and conversations I’ve dreamt up in my spare room almost a decade ago play out in real life. It’s a very strange feeling — almost like a superpower.”
Even though the source material came out 10 years ago, Ware believes it’s still resonant because “the fear of not being believed is perennial, unfortunately. Cabin 10, at its heart, is about a woman who experiences something wrong, reports it truthfully, and isn’t taken seriously because of who she is.

Ware added, “Too many people know what that feels like, and I think we want vindication for ourselves as much as Lo.”
Directed by Simon Stone from a script by Stone and Joe Shrapnel & Anna Waterhouse, the film’s cast includes Keira Knightley (Black Doves), Guy Pearce, David Ajala, Art Malik, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Kaya Scodelario (The Gentlemen), David Morrissey, Daniel Ings, and Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso).

Gitte Witt, Christopher Rygh, Pippa Bennett-Warner, John MacMillan, Paul Kaye, Amanda Collin, and Lisa Loven Kongsli round out the cast.
The producers of The Woman in Cabin 10 include Debra Hayward and Ilda Diffley.
