The Whisper Man Trailer and Key Art Debut

Netflix has revealed the official trailer and key art for The Whisper Man, the new crime thriller based on Alex North’s New York Times bestselling novel. The film will debut on Netflix on August 28, 2026.

The Whisper Man has been rated R by the Motion Picture Association (MPA) for some bloody violence, disturbing images, suicide, language, and brief sexual references.

When his eight-year-old son is abducted, a widowed crime writer looks to his estranged father, a retired former police detective, for help, only to discover a connection with the decades-old case of a convicted serial killer known as “The Whisper Man.”

Directed by James Ashcroft (The Rule of Jenny Pen, Coming Home in the Dark), the movie stars Robert De Niro, Michelle Monaghan, Adam Scott, Hamish Linklater, Owen Teague, Acston Luca Porto, and Will Brill.

Written by Ben Jacoby (The First Omen) and Chase Palmer (It), The Whisper Man is Netflix’s sixth partnership with the Russo brothers’ company AGBO (upcoming John Rambo).

“AGBO is excited to be embarking on our sixth film with our incredible partners at Netflix,” said AGBO chief creative officer Angela Russo-Otstot previously.

“The Whisper Man is a gripping thriller, but at its core is a poignant and complex story of father and sons. We are grateful to have one of the finest actors of his generation, Robert De Niro, anchoring that story and with the remarkable James Ashcroft directing.”

The producers include Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, Michael Disco, and Kassee Whiting. Marcus Viscidi, Tim Connors, and Alex Leb are the executive producers.
