The Watcher Season 2 to Start Production 4 Years After Renewal

Netflix announced today that the second season of The Watcher will finally begin production in New York this fall. The series was renewed by the streaming service in November 2022.

Season one stars Naomi Watts, Bobby Cannavale, Margo Martindale, and Isabel Gravitt will return and reprise their respective roles of Nora Brannock, Dean Brannock, Maureen (“Mo”), and Ellie Brannock.

The Watcher Season 1 followed the Brannock family, who moved into what was supposed to be their suburban dream home, only for it to quickly become a living hell.

Ominous letters from someone calling themself “The Watcher” were just the beginning as the neighborhood’s sinister secrets began to spill out.

The series was created by Ryan Murphy and showrunner Ian Brennan, who serve as executive producers with director Crystle Roberson Dorsey, Nissa Diederich, Karl Frankenfield, Scott Robertson, Todd Kubrak, Tanase Popa, Naomi Watts, Henry Joost & Ariel Schulman, and Eric Newman & Bryan Unkeless.

Debuting in October 2022, The Watcher Season 1 spent 5 weeks on the Global Top 10 English TV list and hit the Top 10 in more than 90 countries. The first season also starred Jennifer Coolidge, Mia Farrow, Terry Kinney, Joe Mantello, Richard Kind, Noma Dumezweni, Christopher McDonald, Michael Nouri, Henry Hunter Hall, and Luke David Blumm.

Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s true-crime anthology series, Monster, is one of Netflix’s biggest franchises with over 320 million views across seasons. The first installment, Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, remains Netflix’s 7th most popular series of all time, and all four installments of Monster have reached #1 on the Global Top 10.

The fourth installment, Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story, has held the #1 spot on the Global Top 10 English TV list since its premiere on September 17, already earning 26.6 million views and reaching the Top 10 in 92 countries to date.
