The Social Reckoning Unleashes New Trailer
With Meta in the news today over its settlement with states, Sony Pictures has unleashed a new trailer for The Social Reckoning. Opening in theaters on October 9, 2026, the film has not yet been rated by the Motion Picture Association (MPA).
A companion piece to the hit film The Social Network, Aaron Sorkin’s original screenplay is based on the events that gave rise to the Wall Street Journal’s shocking exposé, “The Facebook Files.”
The film is inspired by the true story of how Frances Haugen (Mikey Madison), a young Facebook engineer, enlists the help of Jeff Horwitz (Jeremy Allen White), a Wall Street Journal reporter, to go on a dangerous journey that ends up blowing the whistle on the social network’s most guarded secrets.
Written and directed by Sorkin, the dramatic thriller stars Mikey Madison, Jeremy Allen White, Wunmi Mosaku, Betty Gilpin, and Billy Magnussen, with Bill Burr and Jeremy Strong.
The Social Reckoning is produced by Todd Black, p.g.a., Peter Rice, p.g.a., Aaron Sorkin, p.g.a., and Stuart Besser, p.g.a.
The executive producers include Lauren Lohman, Roger McNamee, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Broderick Johnson, and Andrew A. Kosove.
Directed by David Fincher from a script by Sorkin, The Social Network was released in 2010 and stars Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg, Andrew Garfield as Eduardo Saverin, Justin Timberlake as Sean Parker, Armie Hammer as Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, and Max Minghella as Divya Narendra.
The movie earned $224.9 million at the global box office, with $96.9 million coming from North American theaters and $127.9 million from international markets.
