The Simpsons Holiday Special Is Double-Sized
Today, Disney+ revealed the trailer for The Simpsons holiday special “O C’mon All Ye Faithful,” which will premiere December 17 exclusively on Disney+. Derren Brown guest stars in the holiday special.
The Christmas-themed double episode is launching timed to the 35th anniversary of The Simpsons original Christmas special, which aired on December 17, 1989. The trailer for the upcoming Disney+ exclusive special was also revealed.
In The Simpsons holiday special, famed British mentalist Derren Brown comes to Springfield and uses psychological tricks and showmanship to raise the town’s Christmas spirit. When Homer gets hypnotized and mistakenly believes he is Santa Claus, it sets off a cheery chain-reaction and causes everyone to question what they believe and to explore the meaning of “miracle.”
Featuring musical performances by Patti LaBelle and Pentatonix, this special double episode marks the 35th anniversary of the original Christmas special from The Simpsons (“Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire”) and airs exclusively on Disney+ starting on December 17.

From creator Matt Groening and developed by James L. Brooks and Sam Simon, The Simpsons is the longest-running primetime scripted show in television history. The series exploded into a cultural phenomenon in 1990 and has remained one of the most groundbreaking and innovative entertainment franchises, recognizable throughout the world.
Currently airing their record-annihilating 36th season, The Simpsons has won 37 Emmy Awards, 35 Annie Awards, 9 Environmental Media Awards, 7 People’s Choice Awards and 14 Writers Guild of America Awards. The Simpsons was the first animated series to win a Peabody Award, and in 2019 received the Institutional Peabody Award.
It was nominated for an Academy Award in 2012 for the theatrical short “The Longest Daycare.” This was followed by the theatrical short “Playdate with Destiny” (2020) and the Disney+ exclusive “The Force Awakens From Its Nap” (2021).
The Simpsons Movie was a hit feature film and their mega-attraction, The Simpsons Ride, at Universal Studios has received historic expansion updates with the addition of Springfield—winning a Thea Award in both 2009 and 2017. The show was honored with a Star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2000.
