The Residence First Look From Netflix
Netflix has shared a first look at The Residence, a new murder mystery series from Shondaland that will premiere on March 20, 2025.
132 rooms. 157 suspects. One dead body. One wildly eccentric detective. The Residence is a screwball whodunnit set in the upstairs, downstairs, and backstairs of the White House, among the eclectic staff of the world’s most famous mansion.
Uzo Aduba stars as Cordelia Cupp, a consulting detective for the Metropolitan Police Department. Known for her wry humor, relentless pursuit of truth, and sharp eye for human behavior, Cupp is the most sought-after detective in the world—and an avid birder to boot.
Joining her is Randall Park as Special Agent Edwin Park of the FBI, who is tasked with partnering with Cupp during a high-stakes State Dinner. While Park harbors skepticism about Cupp’s unconventional methods, their dynamic promises to be as intriguing as the mystery they seek to unravel.
The series also stars Giancarlo Esposito, Edwina Findley, Molly Griggs, Jason Lee, Ken Marino, Al Mitchell, Dan Perrault, Bronson Pinchot, Julieth Restrepo, Mel Rodriguez, Susan Kelechi Watson, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Mary Wiseman, and more.
Paul William Davies (Scandal, For the People) is the creator, showrunner, writer, and executive producer of the eight-episode series. Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers are the executive producers of the series, which is inspired by the Kate Anderson Brower book of the same name.
The cast includes Uzo Aduba (Cordelia Cupp), Giancarlo Esposito (A.B. Wynter), Edwina Findley (Sheila Cannon), Molly Griggs (Lilly Schumacher), Jason Lee (Tripp Morgan), Ken Marino (Harry Hollinger), Al Mitchell (Rollie Bridgewater), and Randall Park (Edwin Park).
Dan Perrault (Colin Trask), Bronson Pinchot (Didier Gotthard), Julieth Restrepo (Elsyie Chayle), Mel Rodriguez (Bruce Geller), Susan Kelechi Watson (Jasmine Haney), Isiah Whitlock Jr. (Larry Dokes), and Mary Wiseman (Marvella) round out the main cast.
The guest stars include Eliza Coupe (Senator Margery Bay Bix), Jane Curtin (Nan Cox), Paul Fitzgerald (President Perry Morgan), Barrett Foa (Elliott Morgan), Al Franken (Senator Aaron Filkins), Spencer Garrett (Wally Glick), Taran Killam (St. Pierre), Julian McMahon (PM Stephen Roos), Kylie Minogue (Herself), Matt Oberg (Nick Simms), and Brett Tucker (David Rylance).
