Netflix has revealed the official trailer and poster for the supernatural horror thriller The Deliverance, directed by Lee Daniels. Daniels’ film credits include Precious, The Paperboy, The Butler, and The United States vs. Billie Holiday. He also co-created the TV series Empire and Star.
The Deliverance was rated R for violent content, language throughout, and some sexual references. It will open in select theaters on August 16 and begin streaming on Netflix on August 30.
Ebony Jackson, a struggling single mother fighting her personal demons, moves her family into a new home for a fresh start.

Inspired by a true story, The Deliverance stars Andra Day, Glenn Close, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, and Mo’Nique in a genre-defying take on darkness, possession, and finding a higher power.
Anthony B. Jenkins, Miss Lawrence, Demi Singleton, Tasha Smith, Omar Epps, and Caleb McLaughlin also star.
David Coggeshall and Elijah Bynum wrote the movie, which was produced by Lee Daniels, Tucker Tooley, Pamela Oas Williams, Jackson Nguyen, and Todd Crites. Jackie Shenoo, Hilary Shor, Greg Renker, and Gregoire Gensollen are executive producers.
