Responding to ardent viewer devotion, Netflix has officially renewed The Believers for a second season. Season 1 made a sensational debut, soaring straight to the top spot on the Netflix Thailand charts in its first week and sparking intense conversations across Thai society.
An impactful campaign led by The Believers Ltd., the country’s pioneering charitable company, also helped generate buzz for The Believers throughout Thailand.
The first season of the crime drama television became available worldwide on Netflix on March 27, 2024. A premiere date for the second season has not been announced yet.
The series managed to spark a fervor for revered artifacts like the Pra Peung Luang amulet and turned the Phummaram Temple into a tourist attraction overnight. Alongside this phenomenon, the beloved character Monk Dol (Pup-Patchai Pakdeesusuk) has won over audiences’ hearts for months with his charisma and memorable quotes.
The Believers challenged entrenched beliefs through a narrative that sheds light on Buddhist economics in Thailand.
Led by talented young actors such as James-Teeradon Supapunpinyo, Peach-Pachara Chirathivat, Ally-Achiraya Nitibhon, the Netflix series boldly questioned the connection between faith and wealth. Up-and-coming director Wattanapong Wongwan was at the helm.
The cast also includes Patchai Pakdesusuk, Channarong Khantheethao, Paopetch Charoensook, Surasee Phatham, Jintara Sukaphatana, Pramod Sangsorn, and Manutsanun Phanlerdwongsakul.
