Sacrifice Trailer and Poster Unveiled by Netflix
Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for Sacrifice, an upcoming action-adventure comedy film directed by Romain Gavras and co-written by Will Arbery and Gavras. The film will release on Netflix in the U.S. and France on October 16, 2026.
Sacrifice had its world premiere in the Special Presentations section of the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival on September 6, 2025. The movie is rated R for some bloody violence and language, including some sexual references.
“It’s such a meta movie to be a part of…I see a lot about individual effort versus collective effort. I see a lot about just how numb people have become, the lack of importance placed on things that actually matter, rather than this easier, entertaining way of looking at things,” said star Anya Taylor-Joy.
“It’s this concept that you can sweep things under the rug, and I think Joan and her tribe are cold water in the face to that.”
The film is officially described as follows: “During a star-studded charity gala brimming with celebrities, billionaires and empty speeches, a movie star in the midst of an existential crisis (Chris Evans) is taken hostage by a radical warrior (Anya Taylor-Joy) and her devoted followers.
“As the night descends into chaos, both an inward journey and an outward adventure ensue, where the line between performance and belief, salvation and sacrifice, begins to blur.”
In addition to Chris Evans (Avengers: Doomsday) and Anya Taylor-Joy (Dune: Part Three), the Sacrifice cast includes Vincent Cassel, Ambika Mod, Sam Richardson, Jonatan “Yung Lean” Leandoer, Jade Croot, Miriam Silverman, John Malkovich, and Salma Hayek Pinault.
The producers include Robert Walak, Jacob Perlin, Romain Gavras, Gregory Jankilevitsch, Klaudia Smeija-Rostworkerska, and Giorgos Karnavas.
The executive producers include Marcin Czernik, Monika Ratajczak, Farhana Bhula, Ollie Madden, Richard Mansell, Ioanna Stais, Afroditi Panagiotakou, Dimitris Theodoropoulos, Katerina Kaskanioti, Phil Hunt, and Compton Ross.
Walid Said, Rohit Khanna, Jonathan Gray, Matthew Rhodes, Michael Sklut, Chris Evans, Anya Taylor-Joy, Thorsten Schumacher, Chiara Gelardin, and Will Arbery round out the executive producers.
