Primate Trailer Turns Paradise Into Pure Terror
Paramount Pictures has unleashed the official trailer and poster for Primate, an upcoming horror film directed and co-written by Johannes Roberts. The movie has not yet been rated by the Motion Picture Association (MPA).
Primate premiered at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas, in September 2025, and is scheduled to be theatrically released on January 9, 2026.

In Primate, a group of friends’ tropical vacation turns into a terrifying, primal tale of horror and survival. The film stars Johnny Sequoyah, Jessica Alexander, Troy Kotsur, Victoria Wyant, Gia Hunter, Benjamin Cheng, Charlie Mann, and Tienne Simon.
Johannes Roberts, who wrote the film with Ernest Riera, is a British filmmaker who previously directed The Other Side of the Door (2016), 47 Meters Down (2017), The Strangers: Prey at Night (2018), 47 Meters Down: Uncaged (2019), and Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (2021).

Primate was produced by Walter Hamada, p.g.a., John Hodges, p.g.a., and Bradley Pilz. Hamada previously served as executive producer on horror films such as The Conjuring (2013), Annabelle (2024), The Conjuring 2 (2016), Lights Out (2016), IT (2017), and The Nun (2018). He also executive-produced DC films from 2018 to 2023.
Vicki Dee Rock, Nathan Samdahl, Johannes Roberts, Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro, and Andrew Lary are the executive producers.

The movie began principal photography in September 2024 and wrapped up filming in November of that year. An 18Hz production, Paramount is presenting the film in association with Domain Entertainment.
