Pimpinero: Blood and Oil Trailer and Poster Debut

Today, Prime Video released the official trailer and poster for the Colombian Original movie Pimpinero: Blood and Oil, which will premiere on Prime Video later this year.

Set in the desert bordering Colombia and Venezuela, where gasoline smugglers known as “pimpineros” risk their lives transporting illegal fuel from one country to another, the film follows Juan (Alejandro Speitzer). He is the youngest in a clan of three brothers entangled in this perilous trade, as he’s forced to work for a sinister rival.

Determined to uncover the gruesome secrets that shroud this no-man’s-land, Juan’s girlfriend Diana (Laura Osma) embarks on a quest for the truth. Packed with action, drama, and romance, Pimpinero: Blood and Oil touches on universal themes around geographical, ethical, and family borders.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Andrés Baiz (Griselda, Narcos, The Hidden Face), the movie stars Alberto Guerra (Griselda), Alejandro Speitzer (La Cabeza de Joaquin Murrieta), Laura Osma (Goles en contra), and multi-award winning Grammy artist Juanes, who graces the big screen in his acting debut.

The trailer comes days before Pimpinero: Blood and Oil is set to celebrate its world premiere at the 49th annual Toronto International Film Festival on September 9 as part of the International Centerpiece program.

The film is produced by the production company Dynamo. It’s written by María Camila Arias (Birds of Passage) and directed, written, and produced by Andrés Baiz (Griselda, Narcos, The Hidden Face). The production team includes Andrés Calderón (La Cabeza de Joaquin Murrieta, Narcos) as a producer and Cyndi Rojas (Mile 22) as an associate producer.

Pimpinero: Blood and Oil adds to Prime Video’s growing selection of non-English language Originals, including recent international hits My Fault (‘Culpa Mía’), Maxton Hall – The World Between Us, and Golden Globe winner Argentina 1985, as well as upcoming titles such as Your Fault (‘Culpa Tuya’), Freedom, and Like a Dragon: Yakuza.

This is in addition to global Amazon Originals such as The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Fallout, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Boys, The Summer I Turned Pretty, Road House, Saltburn, and The Idea of You.
