Paramount Pictures has released the new poster for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which will open in theaters on December 20, 2024. The studio has also announced that tickets will go on sale on Monday, November 25.
While the third installment has not been rated yet, the first two movies received a PG rating for action, some violence, rude humor, and brief, mild language.
Sonic the Hedgehog returns to the big screen this holiday season in his most thrilling adventure yet. Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails reunite against a powerful new adversary, Shadow, a mysterious villain with powers unlike anything they have faced before.
With their abilities outmatched in every way, Team Sonic must seek out an unlikely alliance in hopes of stopping Shadow and protecting the planet.
Director Jeff Fowler returns along with an all-star cast, including Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Idris Elba, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, Natasha Rothwell, Shemar Moore, Adam Pally, Lee Majdoub, and newcomers Alyla Browne and Krysten Ritter, with Keanu Reeves joining the franchise as Shadow the Hedgehog.
Based on the SEGA video game series, the new installment was again directed by Fowler from a script by Pat Casey & Josh Miller, and John Whittington. The script was based on a story by Casey and Miller.
The first movie opened in theaters in February 2020 and grossed $319.7 million worldwide, with $148.9 million coming from North America and $170.7 million from international markets. The second film, released in April 2022, earned $405.4 million globally, with $190.8 million from domestic theaters and $214.5 million internationally.
Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, Toru Nakahara, and Hitoshi Okuno produced Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which was executive produced by Haruki Satomi, Shuji Utsumi, Yukio Sugino, Jeff Fowler, Tommy Gormley, and Tim Miller.
