Mickey 17 Begins Streaming on Max on May 23

Warner Bros. Pictures’ Mickey 17 will make its global streaming debut on Max (soon to be HBO Max again) on Friday, May 23. In addition to the Mickey 17 Max release, the film will debut on HBO linear on Saturday, May 24 at 7:40 p.m. ET.

From Bong Joon Ho, the Academy Award-winning writer/director of Parasite, comes this groundbreaking cinematic experience. The unlikely hero, Mickey Barnes (Robert Pattinson), has found himself in the extraordinary circumstance of working for an employer who demands the ultimate commitment to the job… to die, for a living.

The movie, which was rated R for violent content, language throughout, sexual content, and drug material, opened in theaters on March 7, 2025. The film grossed $131.8 million at the global box office, with $46 million coming from North American theaters and $85.8 million from international markets.

Written and directed by Bong Joon Ho, Mickey 17 stars Robert Pattinson (The Batman, Tenet), Naomi Ackie (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker), and Academy Award nominee Steven Yeun (Minari, Beef), with Academy Award nominee Toni Collette (Hereditary) and Academy Award nominee Mark Ruffalo (Poor Things).

The film is produced by Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner (Oscar winners for Moonlight and 12 Years a Slave), Bong Joon Ho, and Dooho Choi (Okja, Snowpiercer).

The film is based on the novel Mickey 7 by Edward Ashton. The executive producers are Brad Pitt, Jesse Ehrman, Peter Dodd, and Marianne Jenkins.

The director of photography is Darius Khondji (Oscar nomination for Bardo: False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths, Okja). The production designer is Fiona Crombie (Oscar nomination for The Favourite, Cruella).

The film is edited by Yang Jinmo (Oscar nomination for Parasite, Okja). The visual effects supervisor is Dan Glass (Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw). The costume designer is Catherine George (Okja, Snowpiercer).
