Imaginary Trailer Brings Chauncey to Life

Lionsgate and Blumhouse have revealed the official trailer for Imaginary, the new Blumhouse horror film coming to theaters on March 8, 2024.

From the genre-defining masterminds behind Five Nights at Freddy’s and M3GAN, comes an original horror film that taps into the innocence of imaginary friends – and begs the question: Are they really figments of childhood imagination or is something more terrifying lying just beneath?

Imaginary Trailer Brings Chauncey to Life

When Jessica (DeWanda Wise) moves back into her childhood home with her family, her youngest stepdaughter Alice (Pyper Braun) develops an eerie attachment to a stuffed bear named Chauncey she finds in the basement.

Alice starts playing games with Chauncey that begin playful and become increasingly sinister. As Alice’s behavior becomes more and more concerning, Jessica intervenes only to realize Chauncey is much more than the stuffed toy bear she believed him to be.

The cast includes DeWanda Wise, Tom Payne, Taegen Burns, Pyper Braun, with Veronica Falcon, and Betty Buckley.

The Blumhouse movie was directed by Jeff Wadlow from a script by Wadlow, Greg Erb and Jason Oremland. The producers are Jason Blum and Jeff Wadlow. The executive producers are DeWanda Wise and Ryan Turek.

Wadlow previously talked about the casting of DeWanda Wise: “DeWanda has been more than a star on this movie – she has been a full creative partner. So much of horror grows out of our most basic fears from childhood, and DeWanda taps into all of that.

“You know that old saying that the audience’s imagination is scarier than any movie? We’re going to put that to the test.”

DeWanda Wise is set to star in the STARZ series adaptation of Lisa Taddeo’s Three Women, opposite Shailene Woodley and Betty Gilpin, as well as the feature Poolman, the directorial debut of Chris Pine. It was also recently announced that she will star in the supernatural thriller Killing Faith.

Wise most recently starred in the blockbuster Jurassic Park: Dominion and The Harder They Fall, directed by Jeymes Samuel.
