House of the Dragon Season Three Begins Production

HBO announced today that its Original drama series House of the Dragon has begun production on an eight-episode third season in the UK.

Based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, the series, set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, tells the story of House Targaryen.

The cast returning for the third season includes Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, and Harry Collett.

Also returning are Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, Matthew Needham, Tom Bennett, Kieran Bew, Kurt Egyiawan, Freddie Fox, Clinton Liberty, Gayle Rankin, and Abubakar Salim.

New cast members joining the series include Tommy Flanagan as Ser Roderick Dustin and Dan Fogler as Ser Torrhen Manderly.

The previously announced new season three cast includes James Norton as Ormund Hightower.

House of the Dragon season three will be directed by Clare Kilner, Nina Lopez-Corrado, Andrij Parekh, and Loni Peristere.

The showrunner is Ryan Condal, who is co-creator and executive producer with George R.R. Martin. Sara Hess, Melissa Bernstein, Kevin de la Noy, Vince Gerardis, David Hancock, and Philippa Goslett also serve as executive producers on the series.
