Hot Spot Trailer and Poster Reveal the Sci-Fi Thriller
Focus Features has unveiled the official trailer and poster for sci-fi thriller Hot Spot, which will open in theaters on August 21, 2026. The film has not yet been rated by the Motion Picture Association (MPA).
In Hot Spot, set in a near-future society ruled by sentient A.I., a private eye investigates a murder case only to discover a rebel group capable of undermining the digital overlord. As the detective’s identity slowly unravels, his world enters a state of hypnotic meltdown.

Directed by Agnieszka Smoczyńska (The Silent Twins, The Lure) from a script by Robert Bolesto, Hot Spot stars Andrzej Konopka, Noomi Rapace, and Reika Kirishima.
The film reunites Focus Features with acclaimed filmmaker Agnieszka Smoczyńska, who previously partnered with the studio on The Silent Twins.

Hot Spot is an official Polish–Greek co-production, with Madants and its partners producing on the Polish side and Neda Film and its partners co-producing on the Greek side. Principal photography took place in Greece, with filming wrapping in November 2024.
The producers include Bogna Szewczyk-Skupień, Klaudia Śmieja-Rostworowska, and Gregory Jankilevitsch. The executive producers are Beata Rzeźniczek, Marcin Czernik, Christos V. Konstantakopoulos, Małgorzata Seck, Łukasz Poniński, Marcin Łuczaj, and Jan Naszewski.

“Agnieszka is a singular visionary whose work – be it about vampire mermaids, silent twins or a tech-ruled society – is both visually astounding and thematically prophetic, and we can’t wait to share her latest with the world,” said Kiska Higgs, president of production and acquisitions at Focus Features, previously.
Smoczyńska added: “I’m honored to work with Focus Features. Their remarkable achievements in film are matched only by their unwavering respect and support for directors. With ‘Hot Spot,’ my goal is to create an immersive cinematic experience that captures the essence of today’s world, where advanced technology feels like magic, and love is intricately tied to fear.”
