Gladiator II Trailer, Posters, and Photos Revealed

Paramount Pictures has revealed the official trailer and poster for Gladiator II, which will open in theaters on November 22, 2024. Ridley Scott directed the movie.

Gladiator II continues the epic saga of power, intrigue, and vengeance set in Ancient Rome. Years after witnessing the revered hero Maximus’s death at his uncle’s hands, Lucius (Paul Mescal) is forced to enter the Colosseum after his home is conquered by the tyrannical Emperors who now lead Rome with an iron fist.

With rage in his heart and the future of the Empire at stake, Lucius must look to his past to find strength and honor to return Rome’s glory to its people.

The anticipated film stars Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, Lior Raz, and Derek Jacobi, with Connie Nielsen and Denzel Washington.

Douglas Wick, Ridley Scott, Lucy Fisher, Michael Pruss, and David Franzoni are the producers. Walter Parkes, Laurie MacDonald, Raymond Kirk, and Aidan Elliott are the executive producers.

David Scarpa wrote the screenplay for Gladiator II from a story by Peter Craig and Scarpa. David Franzoni created the characters.

Joseph Quinn plays Emperor Geta in Gladiator II

Directed by Ridley Scott, the original Gladiator opened in theaters in 2000 and grossed $465.4 million worldwide, with $187.7 million from North American theaters and $277.7 million from international markets.

In that film, Roman General Maximus (Russell Crowe) is forced into exile and slavery by Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix), the jealous heir to the Emperor’s throne. During his captivity, Maximus trains as a gladiator and returns to Rome, intent on avenging the murder of his family by killing Commodus, now Emperor.

Connie Nielsen plays Lucilla in Gladiator II

The film also starred Connie Nielsen as Lucilla, Oliver Reed as Proximo, Derek Jacobi as Gracchus, Djimon Hounsou as Juba, Richard Harris as Marcus Aurelius, David Schofield as Falco, John Shrapnel as Gaius, and Tomas Arana Quintus.

Gladiator won five Academy Awards and was nominated for an additional seven. The movie won Oscars for Best Picture, Best Actor (Russell Crowe), Best Visual Effects, Best Sound, and Best Costume Design.

Denzel Washington plays Macrinus in Gladiator II

The movie won two Golden Globes for Best Motion Picture – Drama and Best Original Score – Motion Picture and was nominated for an additional three. It also won the BAFTA Award for Best Film.
