The winter holidays are turning out to be especially stressful for Greg Heffley this year. After accidentally damaging a snowplow while making a snowman with best friend Rowley Jefferson, Greg worries he won’t get the new video game console he so desperately wants for Christmas.

To make matters worse, he gets snowed in with his family, including his grumpy older brother Rodrick and annoying younger brother Manny.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid Christmas: Cabin Fever will stream December 8, 2023, exclusively on Disney+.

Disney+ previously released the animated adventure Diary of a Wimpy Kid, based on Kinney’s first book in the series, on December 3, 2021. In the film, Greg Heffley is a scrawny but ambitious kid with an active imagination and big plans to be rich and famous – he just has to survive middle school first.

Greg’s lovable best friend Rowley seems to coast through life and succeed at everything without even trying! As details of his hilarious — and often disastrous — attempts to fit in fill the pages of his journal, Greg learns to appreciate true friends and the satisfaction that comes from standing up for what is right.

The movie was directed by Swinton Scott (Futurama) and was written and produced by Kinney. Diary of a Wimpy Kid featured the voices of Brady Noon as Greg Heffley, Ethan William Childress as Rowley Jefferson, and Chris Diamantopoulos as Frank Heffley.

The movie was followed by Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules, based on the second book and released on Disney+ December 2, 2022.

The riotous antics of angst-ridden, disaster prone, middle school student Greg Heffley continue in Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules, focusing this time around on his complicated relationship with older brother Rodrick.

A spikey-haired high school student, Rodrick is lazy and undisciplined, and spends way too much time practicing with his rock band, Löded Diper. While he loves to torment Greg, he ultimately has a deep affection for his younger brother.

Directed by Cormican and written and produced by Kinney, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules featured the voices of Brady Noon, Ethan William Childress, Edward Asner, Chris Diamantopoulos, Erica Cerra, and Hunter Dillon.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules features the original song, “Can You Smell Us Now,” written and produced by Jon Levine, with lyrics by Jeff Kinney, and performed by Jimmy Tatro.
