Days of Thunder 2 Announced by Tom Cruise and Anne Hathaway
Tom Cruise and Anne Hathaway announced the Days of Thunder sequel today at Daytona International Speedway. The Paramount Pictures sequel, also titled Days of Thunder, will open in theaters on June 2, 2028.
Tom Cruise will return as NASCAR driver Cole Trickle and will be joined by Anne Hathaway, who is set to play a team owner and engineer in the upcoming follow-up to the groundbreaking 1990 film that revolutionized cinema.
Cruise will star and produce alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Tommy Harper. Jonathan Levine is set to direct from a script by Will Staples. Days of Thunder will be filmed for IMAX and will also be available in Dolby Cinema, 4DX, and other premium large formats.

Most recently, she starred in Mother Mary, reprised her iconic role in The Devil Wears Prada 2, reunited with Christopher Nolan for The Odyssey, and performed in The End of Oak Street opposite Ewan McGregor. Next, she acts in the title role in Verity, based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel.
Days of Thunder was released in June 1990, directed by Tony Scott, and produced by Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer. In addition to Cruise, the cast included Robert Duvall, Randy Quaid, Michael Rooker, Nicole Kidman, and Cary Elwes. The movie grossed $157.9 million at the worldwide box office.
