Peacock dropped the first teaser for The Best Man: The Final Chapters at the Urbanworld Film Festival this weekend, and you can now watch the video below. The Best Man film premiered at the Urbanworld Film Festival in 1999.
The limited series premieres on Peacock on Thursday, December 22, with all eight episodes available to stream at launch.
In addition to the teaser drop, creator of the Best Man franchise, writer, executive producer, director, co-developer, and co-showrunner Malcolm D. Lee, writer, executive producer, co-developer, co-showrunner Dayna Lynne North, Morris Chestnut, and Melissa De Sousa participated in a Q&A panel at Urbanworld.
Based upon the eponymous Universal film franchise written and directed by Malcolm D. Lee, the series will catch up with Harper, Robyn, Jordan, Lance, Quentin, Shelby, Candace, and Murch as relationships evolve and past grievances resurface in the unpredictable stages of midlife crisis meets midlife renaissance.
The cast includes Morris Chestnut, Melissa De Sousa, Taye Diggs, Regina Hall, Terrence Howard, Sanaa Lathan, Nia Long and Harold Perrineau.
Also executive producing is Sean Daniel of Hivemind & Dominique Telson of Blackmaled Productions. The directors are Malcolm D. Lee (four episodes), Charles Stone III, Robert Townsend, and Stacey Muhammads.
The series comes from Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group. It was filmed in New York City, Kearny, NJ, and the Dominican Republic.
