Barbarian Video Game in Development

New Regency Pictures and Diversion3 Entertainment today announced the development of a single player Barbarian video game, based on the hit horror film.

In the film, starring Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgård, and Justin Long, a young woman books a rental home, only to discover a man is already staying there.

Against her better judgement, she decides to spend the evening, but soon discovers that there’s a lot more to fear than just an unexpected house guest.

“We’re very excited to work with the team at New Regency to expand on the settings, characters, and creatures of Barbarian,” said Tim Hesse, Executive Producer of Diversion3 Entertainment.

“The film did a magnificent job of not only scaring audiences with its unexpected and horrifying twists and turns, but also in establishing strong characters thrown into terrifying situations. We look forward to exploring these themes further in the game.”

“Expanding the Barbarian universe into gaming provides a new way to capture the horror that made the film such a success,” added Yariv Milchan, Chairman and CEO of New Regency Pictures.

“We’re thrilled to collaborate with the incredibly talented team at Diversion3 Entertainment to immerse new and existing fans in this world.”

There is currently no release date for the Barbarian video game and more information on the game’s developer and publisher will be announced soon.

Released in theaters in September of 2022, the movie is rated R for some strong violence and gore, disturbing material, language throughout and nudity.

The 20th Century Studios release also stars Matthew Patrick Davis, Richard Brake, Kurt Braunohler and Jaymes Butler. The movie was written and directed by Zach Cregger.

The producers are Arnon Milchan, Roy Lee, Raphael Margules and J.D. Lifshitz. Michael Schaefer, Natalie Lehmann, Danny Chan, Alex Lebovici and Bill Skarsgård are the film’s executive producers.
