American Hostage First Look Featuring Jon Hamm

MGM+ has released a first look at American Hostage, starring Emmy Award-winner Jon Hamm. The eight-part psychological thriller will premiere in fall 2026.

Based on the acclaimed first season of the scripted podcast of the same name, American Hostage is set in the 1970s and tells the harrowing true story of Fred Heckman, a beloved Indianapolis radio reporter who is thrust into the middle of a life-or-death crisis when hostage-taker Tony Kiritsis demands to be interviewed on his popular radio news program.

The cast includes Jon Hamm as Fred Heckman, Giovanni Ribisi as Tony Kiritsis, Mireille Enos as Barbara Heckman, Kristoffer Polaha as Dick Hall, and William Jackson Harper as Ben Hairston.

The recurring cast includes Jonathan Tucker as FBI Special Agent Cormac McNally and Kat Cunning as Ibby Hall.

From Sony Pictures Television, American Hostage comes from co-creators, co-showrunners, and executive producers Shawn Ryan (The Night Agent) and Eileen Myers.

The executive producers also include Jon Hamm (Your Friends & Neighbors), Connie Tavel, Marney Hochman, Sharon Hoffman, Shawn Christensen, and Gabriel Mason.
