Alley Cats Trailer Reveals Ricky Gervais’ Animated Series
Netflix has revealed the official trailer and key art for Alley Cats, the new adult animated comedy series from Emmy- and BAFTA-winning creator Ricky Gervais (After Life, Extras, The Office). The six-episode series will premiere on Friday, August 7, 2026.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited about a trailer. I can’t wait for everyone to get to know these cats,” said creator, writer, and director Ricky Gervais.
The series boasts a cast that includes Ricky Gervais, Tom Basden, Andrew Brooke, David Earl, Kerry Godliman, Jo Hartley, Diane Morgan, and also features Natalie Cassidy and Tony Way.
The series follows the trials and tribulations of a group of feral British cats who seek companionship while ruminating about the struggles of everyday life, and features a bold 2D animation style produced at the UK-based award-winning Blink Industries (Dead End: Paranormal Park, Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared).
From the funny to the absurd, the series is packed with Gervais’ signature style of heart and social commentary that audiences have come to expect.
Elliot Dear is the co-director. The executive producers include Ricky Gervais of Derek Productions, Steven Hamilton Shaw of Shush Creative, and James Stevenson Bretton and Ben Lole for Blink Industries. Hugo Donkin is the producer, and Tang Heng is the production designer.
