Following its debut during the NBA Playoffs, Marvel Studios has brought online the new trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder, which will be opening in theaters on July 8, 2022. You can watch the trailer below, and you’ll find the full new poster underneath!
The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace.
But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods.
To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who — to Thor’s surprise — inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.
Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.
The Marvel Studios‘ Thor: Love and Thunder is directed by Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok, Jojo Rabbit) and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum.
Thor: Ragnarok earned an impressive $853.9 million at the worldwide box office in 2017. $315 million of the total came from domestic theaters and $538.9 million from international markets.
In Ragnarok, Thor was imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and found himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok — the destruction of his home world and the end of Asgardian civilization — at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela (Cate Blanchett).
But first, he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger — the Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) — and grapple with his silver-tongued adopted brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston), the fierce warrior Valkyrie, and the eccentric Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum).
Avengers: Endgame saw Thor joining his fellow Avengers to take down Thanos. He then appointed Valkyrie as the new ruler of New Asgard and joined the Guardians of the Galaxy, who will go on a quest to look for Gamora.
