The Love Hypothesis Teaser and Photos Unveiled
At Prime Video’s inaugural Obsessed Fest, the streaming service unveiled the official teaser trailer and the first photos for The Love Hypothesis. The romantic comedy will begin streaming on September 23, 2026.
Based on the New York Times best-selling novel by Ali Hazelwood, The Love Hypothesis follows Olive (Lili Reinhart), a brilliant Ph.D. candidate focused on her future in academia.
But when she realizes her best friend Ahn (Rachel Marsh) has fallen for her crush Jeremy (Nicholas Duvernay), Olive impulsively kisses intimidating professor Adam Carlsen (Tom Bateman) to prove she’s moved on.
What begins as a desperate act of friendship spirals into a fake relationship with rules, boundaries, and a mutually beneficial agreement. When their arrangement begins to blur the lines between performance and reality, Olive is forced to test her most daunting hypothesis yet: that love might actually be worth the risk.
Directed by Claire Scanlon from a script by Sarah Rothschild, The Love Hypothesis also stars Nicholas Duvernay, Jaboukie Young-White, and Arty Froushan. MRC is presenting a Cantillon Company production.
Obsessed Fest is Prime Video’s inaugural immersive fan event, and the centerpiece of “Obsession Is In Session” — the streamer’s new initiative celebrating young adult storytelling, fandom culture, and the passionate communities driving today’s entertainment conversation.
Taking place June 27 at nya Studios in Los Angeles, the all-day event brings highly anticipated Prime Video Original YA titles — including Every Year After, The Love Hypothesis, Elle, Off Campus, Overcompensating, Your Fault: London, Drawn Together, and more — to life through exclusive first looks, live cast panels, immersive fan activations, exclusive merch, and unprecedented access to the talent and creators behind the stories fans obsess over.
The Love Hypothesis is part of Prime Video’s “Obsession Is In Session initiative,” celebrating young adult storytelling and fandom culture, and will be featured at this year’s Obsessed Fest. Fans can expect live cast panels, immersive activations, and exclusive first looks.
