The Altruists Date Announcement and First Look
The Altruists, an eight-episode limited series about Sam Bankman-Fried and Caroline Ellison, is heading to Netflix on November 19, 2026.
Starring Julia Garner (Ozark, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Inventing Anna) as Ellison and Anthony Boyle (House of Guinness, Say Nothing, Masters of the Air) as Bankman-Fried, the series unpacks how two hyper-smart, ambitious young idealists tried to remake the global financial system before they were accused of stealing $8 billion.
“From the very beginning, I was so fascinated by both Sam’s and Caroline’s real stories. Those are both characters who I could not have possibly made up had I tried — I’m not nearly a good enough writer to create characters as fascinating as either Sam Bankman-Fried or Caroline Ellison,” said creator, writer, showrunner, and executive producer Graham Moore.
Writer, showrunner, and executive producer Jacqueline Hoyt added, “I think viewers will find our deeply intimate story of these two individuals with morally conflicted motives fascinating, and will ultimately have a better understanding of why they did what they did.
The Altruists‘ regular cast includes Julia Garner (Caroline Ellison), Anthony Boyle (Sam Bankman-Fried), Alex Lawther (Sam Trabucco), Karan Soni (Nishad Singh), Naomi Okada (Claire Watanabe), Madison Hu (Constance Wang), Matt Rife (Ryan Salame), and Eugene Young (Gary Wang).
The additional cast includes Paul Reiser (Joe Bankman), Robin Weigert (Barbara Fried), Maddie Hasson (Lauren Remington Platt), Marianna Phung (Lily Zhang), Jennifer Grey (Sara Fisher Ellison), Terry Chen (CZ), and William Mapother (Dr. George Lerner).
Jack Greenlees (Will MacAskill), Hudson Williams (Duncan Rheingans-Yoo), Elizabeth Adams (Hannah Miller), Hannah Galway (Lucy), Donald Heng (Hot Steve), David James Lewis (Bill), and Jasmine Lukuku (Valerie) round out the cast.
The directors include James Ponsoldt (101), Kyle Patrick Alvarez (102, 103), Mairzee Almas (104, 105), Graham Moore (106), and Silver Tree (107, 108).
